Mt. Zion – Jerry “Flash” Weedman, 70, of Mt. Zion passed away at 8:55 a.m. Thursday, February 10, 2011 in Decatur Memorial Hospital.
A service to celebrate Jerry’s life will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Dawson & Wikoff Funeral Home, Mt. Zion. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery, Long Creek. Visitation will be from 1:00p.m. Saturday till service time at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Decatur Memorial Hospice Care. Jerry was born January 7, 1941 in Decatur the son of Victor and Bessie Jo Weedman. He was raised by his step-father and his mother Bill and Bessie Jo Hector. He married Charlene Benton on May 3, 1980. He owned and operated Weedman’s Door and Hardware. He served from 1959 through 1962 in the U.S. Army in the 547th engineering battalion and was stationed in Germany. He obtained the rank of Specialist 4th class. He was a member of the Carpenter Local #742. He was an avid outdoorsman and truly enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
Surviving is his wife Charlene of Mt. Zion; children: Ken Weedman and his wife Cheryl, Cindy Stone and her husband Bill and Lisa Kerin and her husband Michael; grandchildren: Nichole Weedman, Jacob Weedman, Caelan Kerin, and Michaela Kerin; mother-in-law: Martha Benton;
brothers-in-law: Bob Benton and his wife Nancy, Jerry Benton and his wife Sue; nieces: Mallory Benton, Macie Benton, Allison Benton and Abigail Benton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and step-father.

Charlene, I am so sorry to hear of your loss of Jerry. I think of you often, and my prayers are with you and your family. I know that you and Jerry had many happy years and you have many wonderful memories. I am still in Tennessee, and don't get back to Decatur often, but I always think of you and our talks.
